I have experience with classroom Instruction for SAT included reviewing basic skills and test taking strategies while disciplining students into a prep curriculum. I also performed personalized diagnostic analysis and helped place students into classes. I also counselled high school students in small groups. I also conducted intensive SAT workshops for Writing and Critical Reading strategies. For some students that prefered individual attention, I tailored tutorial sessions for private in-home instruction to meet their needs and schedules. I prepared and planned my tutoring sessions in cordance with the lectures of the professor's curriculum. My biggest challenge was designing a lesson plan for all students alike, developing a strategy to help them master all the skills they need. I assigned practice problems and homework assignments relevant to the subject matter and followed up by reviewing the strategies used to guide the student through exercises exclusive to the entrance test they are prepping for.

I have four years experience in teaching Italian as a foreign language to students of diffent levels, backgrounds and age.
My appoach in teaching is very practicle. My classes are a combination of speaking, listening, reading and writing and they are always pleasant.

I am detail oriented and able to successfully multi-task. I believe these are valuable skills to possess when working with children. I have been tutoring kids for almost 6 years. I enjoy being with them and I just love it when I`m with them knowing the fact that I`m able to do something/ help them.

As I have been tutoring Asian primary and secondary students in English since 1996, I understand the difficulties they face. I can help students learn English more easily, provide practice in written and verbal tasks, and reinforce English lessons learned at school.

I am currently a postdoctoral Research Fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, with the long-term goal of obtaining a tenure track position at a university that values teaching. Before going to graduate school, I tutored undergraduate algebra courses. As part of my graduate school experience, I taught several molecular biology courses to undergraduates. In the past couple of years (since moving to NYC), I have been an active participant in the Cornell Science Challenge, an outreach education program that pairs professional researchers with 7th grade science classes. I am now looking to find a more structured tutoring opportunity. If mutually agreeable, I would be available to tutor throughout the academic year.
